The most important event in the city of Sarsina is The "Plautus Festival", consisting of a series of theatrical performances, which take place every summer in Sarsina, in order to pay honour to the famous playwright, born in Sarsina in 259/251 B.C.
The show has been performing since 1956, during the months of july and august, and it has become one of the most important summer theater events in Italy.
Some of the most famous Italian companies perform plays written both by Plautus and by other "classic" authors.
Performances take place at the "Plautine Arena", an open-air theatre recently built in a natural slope, with a semicircular terraced structure.

The city of Sarsina is ready to became the centre of a chain of cultural events designed for the Millennium of the Basilica Cathedral.
A whole year of Jubilee will be dedicated to the Church, starting from March 25, ending to the Pentecost 2009.
