The
National Archaeological Museum holds the old history of the Roman Sarsina: inside the museum all the stuff is from the nearby area, specially important monuments brought back during the excavations of the necropolis Pian di Bezzo. Among them the “
Mausoleo di Obulacco ”, a funeral monument dated 1 st century b.C., the “
Mausoleo di Rufo ” che biggest sepulchral monument, the “
Trionfo di Dioniso ” a large polychrome flooring mosaic and many statues among which the beautiful
Attis.
Ancient Roman Forum
In the north side of the square, a gallery drives directly to the Forum, paved with tables of veronese marble. At the left of the excavation it is possible to see the crater of an ancient furnace, apt to burn the marbles to produce lime.
